XNA Game Studio 4.0 in VS2012 || VS202013

Quick Overview:

  1. XNA must be installed or you must have the libraries.
  2. If you have VS2010 installed go to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Microsoft" VS2010 = 10.0 / VS2012 = 11.0 / VS2013 = 12.0
  3. Copy the “XNA Game Studio 4.0” folder to the relative folder of your desired version of VS.
  4. For this example VS2013. “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Microsoft"
  5. Open “extension.vsixmanifest” with a text editor. I prefer Notepad++.
  6. Scan the code for: <VisualStudio Version="10.0">
  7. Change the code to: <VisualStudio Version="12.0"> if using 2012 type 11.0
  8. Restart Visual Studio and you can now build XNA projects.
